Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) in Swiss clinics

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive brain-stimulation treatment that uses magnetic pulses to activate mood-regulating areas of the brain; it is mainly used in Swiss clinics for depression that has not responded to medication.

How TMS is delivered

A coil is placed against the scalp while the client is awake. Sessions last between a few minutes (theta-burst) and around 40 minutes, usually daily for several weeks.

Side effects

Most commonly scalp discomfort or headache. There is no anaesthesia and no memory impairment.
