How we evaluate clinics
Every clinic in our guide is assessed against the same six criteria. Clinics cannot pay to be listed or to improve their position.
Minimum requirements
- Valid cantonal operating licence
- Medical leadership by a qualified physician, normally a specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy
- Clear information on what is treated and how
The six criteria
- Clinical leadership and staffing: qualifications of the medical director, psychiatrist availability, staff-to-client ratio.
- Scope of treatment: which conditions are treated, on-site detox, dual-diagnosis capability.
- Evidence base: use of guideline-recommended therapies (e.g. CBT, DBT, EMDR, medically managed withdrawal).
- Privacy and discretion: format, client numbers, confidentiality procedures.
- Transparency: clarity of pricing, inclusions and cancellation terms.
- Aftercare: written discharge plans and follow-up.
Sources
Clinic websites and published materials, direct contact with clinics, public registers and reported pricing. Each clinic profile shows when it was last verified. We re-verify every profile at least once a year.
